I have a 730 diesel that i recently restored it never idled right since we got it about 5 years ago weve had the injectors pump and compresion checked and it still just dosent seem right it kind of floats around we adjusted the throttle and its better but now it dosent shut of with the pull knob anybody ever run into this?

Have you checked the governer?
 
well it idles at differnt speeds it depends on the throttle lever im starting to wonder if thats part of my problem it is very wore but when you pull it all the way back it will idle all the way down to i think 3 or 400 rpm then kind of catch itself and come back up to 600 but it needs to run about 850 to make the generator light go off. we have a 50 deere and you can pull the throttle back from full blast and it just idles away without even a waver id like the 730 to do that also
 
I think you need a service manual so you can adjust the throttle linkage correctly. Sounds like you are shutting the fuel off and thats why it hunts. If you had the governer housing off there is some adjustments for the linkage arms inside the hsng on the side of the block.
