730 Hydraulics

Ok finally got the 730 all running good, hooked up to the plow and no hydraulics to the three point. I plowed with it last about 2 years ago but the three point won't go up. I can get the pto engaged, which I think it has to be, for the three point to work, but nothing. I have engaged the lever on the left and another one below the brake on the right but no three point. Am I missing something?

PTO on 730 operates independently of hyd system. PTO disconnect is located at RH front of footrest.
yes I have tried it with the pump handle switched both ways and the pto disconnect switched both way , still nothing. I have tried every combination.
Got oil??
I haven't found any place to check it in the repair manual, where do you check it and which oil does it use?

The Operator's Manual should have the info you are looking for, not the repair manual, sounds like a copy might help you.

You can download and save a free copy from the JD Ag & Turf Bookstore. Here is a link.

Click on Equipment Publications to go to the search page. Enter 730 in the model search box and search. You will get a number of choices, scroll down the list to the tractors. It appears there are 5 choices for the 730s and each having a different operator's manual. Read the descriptions and pick the one that best matches your tractor. Click the download Icon and a copy will download to your device which you can save to print from if you wish.

Both the hydraulic and the PTO disconnect levers or handles have to be engaged with the engine off. The teeth have to mesh on both so may have to "bump" the starter to fully engage. Think the hydraulic has to turn counterclockwise and the PTO turns to the flywheel side to engage.

I have turned it counter clock wise and then turned the lever on the right, under the brake, both ways and still nothing.

If the aux hydraulic lever is in the forward (down) position and you have the valve set to single-acting, then all hydraulic pressure is free-flowing so the 3-point won't rise. Make sure the aux lever is in the middle then try using the 3-point lever.
