730 power stering

I have a question on the vent/fill plug on the power stering. Mine seems to be plugged up. Has anyone tried to unstop those. Do those come apart so they can be cleaned? And if they do how do you take them apart? I tried to pull the parts manual up online but my computer here at home is way too slow.
Thanks Tom

You could try soaking it in carb. cleaner. Most of them I had I just washed out in the solvent tank and then blew air pressure up the tube and held the top holes shut by hand and watched to see if the solvent bubbled out of the top.

MEK (Methyl Ethyl Ketone) is my first choice as a solvent to remove everything organic, which includes paint, so if you have some of that around it stands the best chance of anything to work in the shortest time. Also, I have "replaced" a severely clogged vent plug in the P/S dipstick with a piece of the porous sintered brass cut from a late '60s GM/Rochester fuel filter. Takes a while but it's cheap compared to the cost of a replacement dipstick.

I soaked it in some engine degreasser since the carb cleaner was empty that Mike mentioned and got some bubbles around the outside edge of the core after soaking for a while. So I going to let it soak some more and see what happens. Thats a good idea for a replacement. I assume you have to drill the old core out to replace it.

Yes, that's right. Forming a replacement core is a bit of a pain, just be sure to keep ends uncut so the brass doesn't smear shut.
