My 5000 steering is giving me fits! For some reason the recirculatory balls in the shaft and nut in the steering column will bind up and it wont let me steer to the left.I had it apart last summer cleaned everything and I straightened the bearing transfer tube which was bent. It worked good all winter. I have new bearings on the way but would also like to replace the transfer tube. NH website does not list this part indivually as far as I can tell. Anyone know where this part might be found? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Sorry about the long post.

May I suggest; you replace the whole steering shaft, and ball nut as a unit.
This should resolve your issue.
Worked for me!

iam with the other guy it could be it got bent and it all needs to be replaced now if u can find an old farmer with one sitting out back u might be able to recondition one that hasnt gotten bent before with new rubbers and knuckles

our 5000 wouldn't turn left a few years back. Turned out the front end needed greasing, the one spindle was turning hard.

hope the solution is that simple and cheap!
