753 Backhoe bucket cylinder

I have a 63 4000 ind. with a loader & 753 backhoe. The bucket cylinder is leaking oil badly by the seal. I removed the cylinder and was going to replace the seal. The rod on the cylinder is scored badly and needs to be repaired or replaced. Does anyone know if there is a salvage yard where I may find a used cylinder or rod. The 550, 753 & 755 use the same cylinder part number D5NNB576B.

Thanks,
Tom

Hi,
Any good machine shop should be able to replace that rod for you using your old rod eye. We have a shop here in town we use all the time when a rod needs replacing. A lot cheaper than buying new OEM. Sure would beat the heck out of trying to find a good used rod at a salvage yard on a tractor of that vintage. Worth checking out !!!

Thanks for the replys. I did find a local shop that can do exactly as you stated. They will cut off the old rod, weld a new rod onto the eye and machine to match the old rod. I am going to have them replace the seals also and they are going to test everything out for me, all I have to do is put the cylinder back onto the tractor when there done, and all for less than I could buy a used rod!
