755 Compact

I have just recently acquired a 755 with a fuel issue. It appears that there is an issue with the wiring harness pigtail where the fuel shut off solenoid plugs in. In starting attempts it appears that the faulty wiring has the fuel flow shut off as the plunger in the solenoid will not stay pushed in. Any thoughts on the issue or where a wiring harness can be found? Dealer states the part number has been discontinued. Thanks.

Bypassing a pigtail and using a connector instead is pretty easy.

A common problem with Deere's having symptoms such as yours is the temperature sending unit at the thermostat housing is bad. If yours has one just unplug it and see if it runs then.

There should be 3 wires there, a common ground and a wire from the ''hold'' coil and a wire from the ''pull in'' coil.

The ''hold'' coil doesn't have enough magnetism to make the solenoid ''pull in''.

When the starter is activated, power is sent to the ''pull in'' coil, causing the plunger to retract, and the ''hold'' coil is then able to keep it in the ''run'' position until the key is turned to the ''off'' position.

As long as you can figure out which wire is which, you can make up your own wiring leads to connect it up.

Sadly, though, even mowers are now so complicated you may need a factory service manual for a schematic with all the details of the wiring connections.
