756 Custom serial numbers and value

756 custom

Were the serial numbers on the customs kept separate from the regular ones? There was 731 built, but were serial numbers mixed in with the regular production? This one's last three numbers are 231. What are 756 custom tractors currently worth?

Can't say for sure but knowing the way IH did things it would not surprise me if they were mixed in with the other 756's. The fact that there is a record of how many were produced does give some hope that the serial numbers might have been kept separate but I wouldn't bet on it. As for the value I don't really think they would be worth much more than a regular 756.

To my knowledge they were MIXED IN , as for value myself i would give less for the fact that they only had one remote , one head lite , most i have seen had the non suspension seat . When they were new the one dealer had one on his lot and had it well into the coming out of the 66 sires . They got it sold to a guy north of me BUT they had to change the seat and add the second head lite .

My thoughts exactly Vet. If it was still equipped as a "Custom" it would be worth less to me too. The thing that I find amazing was the savings in dollars for all of the things they deleted was pretty miniscule in my opinion. I have to believe the guys that bought these tractors later wished they had spent a few hundred extra dollars and gotten a regular tractor. IH is not alone on this either. Deere did the same thing with the 4000 which was a stripped down 4020 and Oliver had 1850 and 1750 "Specials" that were stripped down versions. I don't think any of them went over real well.

Many moons ago when i had the crazy idea of buying a NEW tractor i let it slip out that I MIGHT be interested in a new tractor and i was decended on by saleman from all colors like vultures on road kill. My buddy and i had two 450 Farmall diesels and were looking to upgrade. First one to show up was the Minni Mo. dealer , we made him mad and set him on his way as we told him that when they started PAINTING them red and White then we may be interested , next was a small local Deere dealer and want to make us such a deal on two J D 4000 Nope don't even bring them up for us to try . Next was the Oil All Over dealer he just showed up with two 1755 's with new four bottom semi mounts hooked to them and dropped them off and left . We did not see or hear from him for four days , then he showed up and asked how we liked them . Yep they were nice , ran well not hard on fuel BUT my god they wanted 5150 for tractor and Plow. How would you ever make the payments ?????? A new Ford F 250 two wheel drive pick up was only 2100 bucks a plan Jane one but still . Then the Ford store wanted us to try two 7000 fords , nah not interested . Then the one local Red store showed up with a 756 D and a 826 D Had each of them for three days . But the price was way more then the Oil All Overs by 2500 and 3200 bucks Ain't noway we can afford them prices . But we got the corn out with new toys . Was getting ready to start hay and needed parts for the haybine and had to go to the New Holland store and it was also the massey store , Old Elmer jumped me as i was walking to the parts contour about buying a 175 Massey Told him Nope they set to low and your in all the dust and dirt, well what about a 180 then , they set up higher , Nope Earny has one and it spends more time in the back of your shop then it does on his farm . That shut him up. Got the part i needed and left and had to drive past the Minni Mo store and oh my god setting next to the building were not one but to Minni Mo's painted Red And WHITE . Got back to the farm and as my buddy and i were working on the haybine we hear a semi pull up and stop out at the end of the lane and we hear chains rattling around and i looked at my buddy and he and i say at the same time RALPH and sure enough here come RALHP down the lane with one of the RED and White MinI.'s and As he stops and gets down off the first one and said well here ya go just what you wanted TWo red and White Minni.'s and he leaves . One setting down by the barn and the other one left setting up by the road. And they sat where they were left for two weeks never moved and never started . Never did buy a new tractor , cant tell ya how many used tractors i have bought fixed up farmed with and sold. My S/MTA was bought June 22 1990 and still have it a S/H bought a year later and with out looking back into my records i am not sure on the 806 As it is the longest lasting 806's i have had . It is the ugliest one has oil leaks , needs a paint job AND NOBODY wants it . Got tired of finding one and fixing every little thing on it and adding a drop dead paint job on it for a keeper only to be hounded to death to sell it and even when i placed a price on it that was double the going rate thinking that would drive the just got to have it buyer away he would pay the price .
