I have an Oliver 77 Row Crop with a gasoline engine built in about 1955. Today I drained the oil from the differential and transmission. The oil was of identical consistency from both drain holes. I have no manual for this tractor and am a bit confused as to how to add the new oil.
My guess is that the new 90-140 gear oil is to be added after removing the 2 ½ inch cap just in front of where the left foot rests below the brake pedal. Oil probably fills the transmission first, and then overflows into the differential. When full the oil will exit through the pipe plug hole on the lower right side of the case, below the PTO unit.
Please let me know if my reasoning is correct, or how to do the job correctly.
Also, how much oil goes into the plug on top of the pulley assembly, and what weight?
