770 WFE to fleetline 66

I bought a nice WF off of a 770 and would like to put it on my 66 to use as a hay tractor( also has factory 3 pt and is too light in the front end ). The 66 NF is all one unit so I do not have any steering gearbox. Any advice or leads on where I could get what I need would be appreciated. Checking at local salvage yards hasn't been fruitful. Thanks.

Need to know what you got with the 770 front end was it power steering or manual.The wide front should bolt on and if it was manual it should work.I know the 66 wide front was made lighter than the 77,88,770 and 880.

Thanks for the reply. I don't know if the WF came off a manual or power steer. There was no gearbox or power steer unit with it. The platform that bolts onto the tub has a splined collar to receive a splined shaft to turn the wheels but the worm gear drive for the manual steer on the 66 is all contained in the post of the NF. Is the WF for power steer different than a manual steer one?

Sounds like it was for the power steering version. Most likely you will not be able to make this work. If you were lucky enough to find a factory [Gemmer] unit, it might not fit in the 66 tub, and will not have any place to anchor it.

Thanks Tramway - I was afraid of that. Did the manual steer units come with a steering gearbox as an integral part of the whole WF assembly? I take your reply to mean that there is no such thing as a manual steer gearbox to drive this model WF.

The manual steering wide front had a gearbox integral with the casting, just like the narrow front.
I don't know for sure if there ever was a manual steering gear that fit on the splined shaft, but I don't think so. If there was, maybe somebody else will chime in?
