770 wheatland

Have an oppurtunity to buy a 58 or 59 770 wheatland gas that is in pieces, but for pretty much scrap price. Kind of on the fence as its going to need a complete restoration, and I am not sure I want to get into that for what I THINK is a relatively common tractor? What do you guys think is it worth spending minimum 5k and my time on a resto or should I walk away?? If a properly restored one is worth 10k I wouldnt hesitate, but I somehow doubt it?

You'll never get your time and money out of restoring an Oliver tractor. I don't care how rare or MFWD it is. Even when they were at their peak a while back they were still labors of love. 99.97% of anything with and engine, wheels, or a propeller is always a loser as a restoration investment. Everyone thinks they have a .03% golden nugget, yet they're already way behind after paying for breakfast at the local diner while on their way to pick up the tractor.

So to answer your question- do you need 770 parts? Scrap is a good price. Do you want a 770 gas wheatland? I would. They're simple and fun. Does it need to be "restored" or can you get away with getting it going and putting it to some work? Relative questions of course. And your time is valuable, even if you're retired.
