I'm posting for a friend with a 7700 who can't seem to get his question to post here. His problem is that the brakes are not very effective, to the point where he doesn't want to tow anything down the road with his tractor for fear of not being able to stop for an intersection. The brakes also chatter really bad when he comes to a stop. He has since drained the oil, refilled with CIH Hy-Tran, and added some anti-chatter additive, all to no avail.
He pulled one of the finals off the other day and sent me the pic below. The 4 circles were with regards to questions he had about the slots in the disc - he wanted to know if that was normal, I told him it was. Based on what I can see, the discs look pristine. He further tells me that all of the steel surfaces are nice and smooth.
He tells me that the brakes are properly adjusted and don't feel much different on pedal application compared to his 5000. I'm not sure what to tell him other than to replace all of the friction discs. Does anyone out there have any other thoughts as to the problem?
