7720 Combine

Hey,
I got an old yellow top 7720 with a 466 and what looks like the big p pump on it.
Was the combine motor the same as the tractor motor in say like a 4640?
Will the motor bolt into about anything and make the flywheel work. Im thinking like 4020 or maybe even up to a 4430?
The combine is wore out and junk, but motor was still really good. Thinking about building a pulling tractor or something along those lines.
Thanks
Shawn

It's basically a 4440 engine,no P pump, nothing out of the ordinary, and yes it will fit some tractors, but won't work in a 4020 very well..

Ben, the 7700 combine used the 404 that was used in the 4430 but the 7720 used the 466 used in the 4440 as Tim mentioned. Mike

Do you care to explain why it doesnt work well in a 4020. I thought with a steel flywheel and double disc clutch set up for pulliing it would bolt right in. Course not sure how much room under the hood for the turbo. I figure a lot of fabrication involved.
Just wondering

Ooh it will bolt up fine, but you would need to modify the turbo set up to match the 4020, plus you would have bad low end power, and way to much high end power, you would have cooling issues. The big pump just don't go well in them. I have put a few in and didn't like the way they turned out.The non-turboed engines work out better in 4020's that are primarily used for light duty work. If you want to go on with the higher HP you can put a good 4320 clutch assembly in to deal with that end, then an improved flow radiator to help with the heat, then a turbo set up like I put together to make it fit under the hood, I'll send a pic of my turbo set up..

Thats a preaty neat setup. I'll post pictures as mine all starts coming together this winter. Still looking for a tractor with a bad engine to start with. Hate tearing apart something that is still complete.
Thanks
Shawn
