I no this isn"t about a vintage tractor but I have a chance to buy a 1994 7800 and am alittle nervous because all my tractors are 4455 and below. I would like to know if they are good tractors or if they got problems and what I should look for when I go look at it the pros and cons to them. It is 2wd and has a powershift I would also like to know if they are good on fuel. Any advice would be helpful thank you

They are a good tractor. Had a little problem with the pto on some, but i think most if not all have been fixed by now. They are good on fuel, the power quad is a little better on fuel than the powershift tho. For the size, they have alot of power too. Sometimes the three point is a bear to get down without weight on it, other than that they really are good tractors. Had one come in the shop the other day with 8200 hrs and has been turned up to 215 hp. . . still going strong. If you travel on the road alot, the powershift is a big plus. The quads are slow in road gear, the powershifts get right after it as far as speed goes. Good luck!

The early ones did not have a grease fitting on the rockshaft and they would rust tight, a nasty job to get them out and once you get them out it's best to turn about .060 off of it, the PTO has some issues, but not that bad to deal with..
