I was wondering are ther suppose to be two cables on the carb, with one being the detent cable(truck is an auto.) Second I was looking under the dash and saw a plastic switch on the gas pedal, what is this. thanks

Does it have a THM-400 tranny?

If so, it will NOT have a kickdown cable, it is electrically downshifted by the switch you have discovered, when the accelerator pedal is fully depressed.

I had a 1975 GMC C3500 with a 350 and a TH400 transmission, and it only had one cable to the carburetor, there was nothing to the transmission except the shift rod.

Thanks. I have a TH400. My switch is disconnected and wondering were it connects to.

One side of the switch is fed by "igntion on" power, the other side goes down to an electical connector on the tranny.
