8-N front tires

Having difficulty getting Carlisle 6.0X16 front tire for my 8-N. I was told I could run car tires.
I have one real nice front tire and one that is shot. Can I run a car tire on one side and a
tractor 3 rib farm tire on the other? If so, what tire will fit without rubbing when I turn. I
would like to have it tubeless so I can patch it in the field(lots of thorns). Thanking anyone
with ideas? It seems with supply and demand right now that you can order 3 ribbed farm tractor
tires but wait time about 3 mos and the prices are horrific!!

You would need the car rim as well since you 8-N rims were not designed for tubeless tire bead seating.

Miller Tire and some others have ads for Carlisle 6.00 x 16 tri ribs on eBay and Amazon, so the delay in delivery may be just the vendor you are dealing with. I doubt they are going to get away with shipping in three months if they are selling on eBay and Amazon.

225/85/16 gets you an inch from the sidewall to the steering arm at the top. Flat tires don't track too well in dirt as the 3 rib, flat ties work well with the FEL. I would not swear to having tubes inside my 16 tires. It's late, dark, cold and about to rain.
Tires can be treated with tire slime to reduce or even eliminate down time for punctures supposedly up to 1/4 inch.

Do they have to be Carlisle? If not I bought some Deerstone for the front on my 8n. Very reasonable and have been fine for the 5 years Ive had them.

Try Walmart they carry Carlisle tires, no shipping cost (free local pickup). I bought a set of 6.5x16 Carlisle tires from them a couple months ago.

I recently got a couple of Carlisle 52F275 6-16 3-rib tires from https://tiresshipped2you.com/collec...rib-agricultural-tire-600-16-lrc-6ply-rated-1. Best price I could find with shipping and they're pleasant to deal with. Received them in about five days from time of order. YMMV. :)

I'd recommend still trying to see if you can find anything through small, mom-&-pop tire shops near you. It can be worthwhile to develop an in with those folks.

Last month, I had a rusty old rim on my 8N finally gnaw through the tube in an ancient front tire. The rim was past patching, & luckily I had a spare set of painted-to-match front rims to use. I found a local tire shop that specializes in tires for farming & heavy equipment, & they had 2 new, 3-ribbed 5.5 X 16 tires in stock that they mounted with new tubes at $119 a piece. (And this shop also comes out to your place if needed to do the work.) I thought it was worth establishing that relationship, just in case I happen to have a rear tire fixed/replaced--beyond my means to get one of those rear wheels on & off.

(And worth knowing: the owner of the tire shop told me that while those tires are available, but have recently taken more effort for him to locate.)

Hunkydory, The link provided looks like a good source for me in the future. I have a flair wagon I think the 3-rib tires would look good on. Question: the tires
are listed as Carlisle and manufactured by Carlstar. Is that a misprint on their web site or are all Carlisle tires manufactured by Carlstar....just curious.

Good question, Ken.

Looking at their site, https://www.carlislebrandtires.com/, it appears Carlisle is owned by the Carlstar Group.
