I am installing a rebuilt hydraulic pump in my 52 8 n. It was very tight removing the old one and I can't seem to get the rebuilt one to go
in because it is also tight . What am I doing wrong ?

ay be doing nothing wrong. If not your original pump, then it may be an actual fit problem, as the "ears" of the PTO shifter fit closely into the pump housing. Verify ear width will fit into end of pump.

JMOR ,

Does it matter which position the pto shifter is in when installing the pump ? Also the new pump appears to be 1/4 wider across
the chambers than the original pump .

I had the same problem several years back. The new chambers were just too wide. I used an angle grinder to relieve some of the excess material and ground down the head of one bolt. It was on the lower right corner of either the left or right chamber only (see 2nd pic below). Not sure which one. The pictures below show you what I did to make it fit. Went right back in and is still running great. I replaced the valves, but I reused the old springs since they were stronger than the new ones.

Hope this helps!
