800 3rd gear

An 800 jumps out of 3rd gear as soon as you let out the clutch ,any ideas? It is a 5 speed.

Some possibilities, starting with the most likely:

1) Worn clutching teeth on the gear and mating coupler due to excessive grinding
2) Excessive end play of the gears on the shaft due to worn thrust washers
3) Excessive end play of the countershaft assembly due to worn bearings
4) Broken detent spring
5) Worn shift rail detent groove
6) Worn or cracked shift fork
