ok now i've got a good question for you experts...my new tractor came with a pallet of xtra parts and there is another instriment panel with another model #....how can I be sure the id tag belongs to my tractor if it is mounted on such a changable part...how can I match it up to be sure

The best way to tell on a case is to compare the tag SN with the number on the left side bell-housing on the engine. That number is stamped in and you"ll likely have to clean the paint and grease off the flange to read it. If someone took the engine from another tractor neither number may match. does the instrument panel or gage cluster match the one on the tractor?
