8000 transmission issue

8000 that when in high range 1st under a load will pop out of high range . Will not do this in any other gear selection not matter how heavy the load. Have tighten range detent but hasn't solved problem. Thanks in advance. Scott

Could be caused by a number of things. Here are some possibilities: 1) worn coupler teeth on gear, 2) cracked or broken shift fork, 3) excessive output shaft end play, 4) misadjusted shift linkage.

Sounds like any of these are going to require a tear down of transmission. Thank for the advice

I'd start with checking #4, as that does not require a teardown.
