hey guys, i"m looking at a rebuilt 801 for sale. seller is asking $5000 for the tractor, blade, and 6 foot mower. the tractor doesn"t have hydraulics, and i think i"d only be interested if hydraulics are an option. what are my options for adding hydraulics to this tractor? any idea on price? thanks guys

Welcome to the Ford board.
Does it not have the standard 3 point lift?
I don't know how the blade would be any good on the tractor if it has no hydraulics or 3 point. If it does not have 3 point then his price is about twice what it is worth.
Adding hydraulics would be very expensive depending on if it was a factory delete.

I think you mean it doesn't have remote hydraulics, the valves are available at salvage yards or on E-bay if your not in a hurry for one, they're nice if you have a blade with a cylinder but not a deal breaker if you find a premium 801.For the price he's asking it should be a premium tractor needing nothing.

Like Mike, I assume that you are speaking of remote hydraulics.

Both single and dual remote hydraulic valves are available for the tractor and can be found on ebay and other antique tractor sites from time to time. The going rate for a single spool valve is around $250+ while that of a dual spool valve is around $350+. Both prices are for the valve only.

TISCO still offers new single and dual spool valves for these tractors, either valve only or complete kits. Sit down before asking the prices.

Installation of a remote hydraulic valve on these tractors is a simple 30 minute job if you have everything needed before starting.

Thanks for the replies guys. I think remote hydraulics is what I am looking for, sounds like it might be wiser to find another tractor than to try to piece this one together for that price.

Appreciate all your insight.

thomace,
Way too much.external_link has over 20 listed less than that. There's a beautiful one listed there from Alabama for $3500.There's a nice one with a "Loader" for $3700.You could buy that one and have shipped to your front door for less than what your looking at.
Just like some other things(not gonna say, don't need any trouble from anyone),don't fall in love with the first one you see.Look asround a while.
Good Luck,
GT65

What model is this tractor and is it a gas or diesel? What was all rebuilt on it? If the engine was completely rebuilt it is worth the 5000$ you got 1500$ in a engine rebuild especially if you had to take it in.

5000$ is enough to buy 2 good 801's with working hyds and some toys.

if it was showroom rebuilt with engine and brakes and clutch and every bolt turned, new tires and a mustang paint job, it -COULD- be valued at 4000$ or more.. if you add up the labor and reciepts... however.. it's hard to sell em like that without something cool like 4wd etc...

All depends on the area your in up here in Wisconsin they seem to get a good buck for them up here. Theirs a 860 with a loader repainted but a few things leaking on engine their asking 5000$ just 5 miles away from me.
