801 Pistons

I have 2 801's both are diesels. One has the 6015J and the other is the 6015g. I'm wondering if the pistons are interchangeable?

C0NN6015J is a 172 ci engine that was originally used in the 8xx/9xx series tractors with a bore of 3.9" and a stroke of 3.6" and was used for both gas and diesel engines. C0NN6015G is a 134 ci engine with a bore 3.4" and a stroke of 3.6". The 134" engine was only used in gas models of the 5xx, 6xx and 7xx series tractors. As far as my records show, that casting number was never used on a diesel engine.

I forgot to add... the internet is not always correct, so you might have a diesel with that casting number, but I cannot find it documented anywhere.

If they are both Diesels , the 6015G block is probably a 144 diesel and there is 6015A blocks that are 144 diesel also . So no pistons will not interchange because the 144 has a smaller bore than the 172 . There is some later 6015F blocks that are 144 diesel also .

Now I'll admit my mistakes. My 6015j had broken lands between the rings so of course being old cheap and tight I decided to rob the 6015g of its pistons so now it's time to redo it all. Gonna have to break out the glasses to take a closer look at that G. I'll keep posting with pics. The paint from tractor supply didn't look right so I mixed a little Kubota orange in there.
