801 PTO Shaft

Twisted the spline end of my 861 pto shaft. Was running a 6 foot roto tiller and hit a few good sized rocks. The manual notes the heavy duty induction hardened shaft is available for shock load applications, Are the after market shafts heat treated? Any advice or information would be welcome.

Two observations here. First, Your tractor even in 1st. gear has too much ground speed for a tiller. 2nd. your slip clutch on your tiller may be too tight. I would check into that. It needs to slip before the tiller damages your tractor. I can't say on the hardness of the replacement shafts for the tractor. I had an 861 that i tried a tiller on. It had too much ground speed for my tiller. I went to a tractor with a low and high range transmission.
