801 starter

Please clarify your question. "All 12 volt starters" are not the same, as they are different sizes and shapes for different vehicles and have different placement for the mounting holes, plus different size gear teeth, different length of throw for the bendix, etc. If you are asking about all Ford tractor starters of that era, then yes, they would be the same for any 501, 601, 701, 801 or 901 series tractor with the same fuel type. I am not sure if one for a diesel engine would work in a gas engine or vice-versa on those Red Tiger engines, but they are not the same between the gas and diesel engines on the later 3 cylinder models.

If it is a gas engine, it would have been a 6 volt system originally, and the starters from a 6 volt engine will work fine when it is converted to 12 volts, so most people don't swap out the starter when they do a 12 volt conversion, so if it is a gasser it is most likely that it is actually a 6 volt starter, but that shouldn't be an issue.
