801?

Does this look like an 801 to you? Can't really see the front end behind the loader. Going to look at it Sunday evening. Price will have to come down though. What do you think?

It has 801 style fenders on it but it appears that the grille screen/cover is completely gone. Appears that the intake tube comes straight down from the air cleaner which indicates 801. Photos are too far away to tell much about it.

From what I can see it could be an 801 or a 601 or a 600 or a 800 series hard to tell from the poor pictures

Really hard to tell. With these tractors, so much could have been messed with over the years. Only way to know for sure is to check the bellhousing.

I agree it looks like XX1 air cleaner and tube. take your compression tester with you.

I do not see a Select-O-Speed shifter. Not an 801 without one.

801 is the series of the tractor not the model. The 801 series had the 821, 831, 841, 851 861, 871 and 881 and the last 2 are the only ones with the SOS. The 821, 831, and 841 all had 4 speeds and the 851 and 861 had 5 speeds but the 861 had a 2 stage clutch giving it live PTO. So you are or have been misinformed

The serial # will tell you the year of the tranny but not always the tractor because more than a few have different trannys in them!!
