Couple rod brgs spun and and crank needs turned. Can rods be removed from bottom after crank pulled?

If it spun two rod bearings I would want to do more than just remove the crank and replace two rods. The main bearing bores near those rods need to be checked for distortion and over heating. Plus all that debris from those bearings need to be cleaned out of the rest of the block. Just my opinion.

I agree with both, need to check everything out and get the motor clean. Most rebuilt kit are not that bad in cost, I need some gaskets for a D 236 I paid a little more but just got the complete gasket kit.

No,they have to come out the top.The pistons will not come out the bottom past the main bearing bulkheads.
IIRC on other eng(s?) I have pulled piston down enough to get pin out & remove rod. Cust not willing to do an OH and has no luck finding used eng.

As others have said pulling the piston down doesn’t work in this engine. As I am sure you know the only way to get the crank out is to split the tractor. At that point you have quite a bit invested in the repair job. Sometimes it’s best to tell a customer what they really don’t want to hear. That will be better than attempting a patch job that doesn’t last and then your name gets drug through the mud. I see a used engine available in Wisconsin for $4500. There is also one for $850 but my guess it has something wrong with it or any history on it is nonexistent.

I would agree with looking for another good used engine. More to it than just replacing the crank and rods. Proper job is to strip the block and clean out oil bores and do a line bore or at least check it. Same with the rods , they should be resized and burnt ones replaced. And why did the crank go? And also , that crank is scrap now. But I guess different folks do different strokes. In reality the tractor is not worth what an engine job will cost.

Maybe check what local salvage yards will pay for the tractor in as-is condition and pass that on to the customer with your repair estimate.
