I replaced the injector pump and injectors with ones from a friend. He gave them to me since his dad has passed and has no tractors it will fit on and he found them in his shop.
It runs like a scalded cat. Will turn 2800 rpm's and very peppy. He said his dad had then always turn the pump up 10%. Do you think 2800 rpm' will be ok?

Running with the pump open 10% is ok, in my book, but got heaven's sake reduce the RPM by 10 %, i run mine at 2200 thats fast enough for a 115 Hp, So No 2800 is not ok!

as an everyday running like that , no! i dont even run my 660's wide open unless i need the extra power. your just burning extra fuel for nothing and extra engine wear. run the tractor for the job at hand. meaning gear up and throttle down when needed. thats what the transmission is for.

You do realize that there are throttle settings between idle and wide open right?

If you need PTO speed, adjust the control so the tach reads PTO speed.

There is no need to freak out and call the National Guard and have that pump turned down as long as it functions correctly and governs the engine at whatever speed you set it.
