Having trouble with lift wanting to raise just recently changed fluid and filter.Have discovered if i take the plug out of the side of the pump air comes out then it will start working, but if i let it set for few minutes i have to take the plug out again. My dipstick reads more than full but my shop manual called for 17 gal.

Could not determine from your inquiry if this problem just started after you changed filters or if you changed filter because of this problem. Those covers over filter can leak and suck air real easy, so if it started after changing filter I would suspect that. You can smear grease around cover and if it sucks it in you found your problem. You don't say if control section, power steering, ta, brakes etc quit also or not. There is a small suction tube behind the filter for the rear pump that could have come partially out when you changed filter also. This would most likely only effect the rear pump, not power steering. If problem was the reason you changed filter, you may have a main suction tube problem and over filling five gallons should help you out with out tearing tractor down. Lot of other possibilities also.

thanks for your info my power steering and brakes are working and I tryed to add more fluid but didn't help. So my local IH shop told me to change the O-ring on tube so i just did that and will try again tomorrow.
