Why does some 806 row crops have International name plates on the hood instead of Farmall, are they later model?

I'm not sure mine has international on it and without checking s/n I believe it is a 65 model. I do know it came with an alternator and the external regulator under the steering wheel behind that panel in front of your feet there. Being I bought it used in 1978 only about 10 years after production end I believe it is mostly pretty original except for the alternator change to an internal regulator with the 3wire hook up. and small changes like the bracket for a snow plow on the front with LED lights mounted on there. And the battery set up with one gp 31 on the right side in place of the 2 3EH ones. I could not say if it is the early end or the later end. My 856has just international on it also. Both are row crops with adjustable front axles and rear tires. I've also never seen an 806 with the 15.5 38's on them that tractor data shows either. All have had either one of the 3 sizes of 18.4-34 16.9-38 or 18.4-38's which I have for tire size on it. I still have the single fender mount lights and one on the rear. It is a diesel if that made a difference on the Farmall versus International or if gas mattered for that.

My understanding is:
Generally, on the hood, IH used "Farmall" on row crop models and "International" on wheatland and standard models until the 56 series.
The word Farmall remained above the model designation number until the later 66 series, then disappeared (I think in 1974, but not sure).

IMHO, the row crop all had Farmall badges, and the standard/ "wheatland" all had International badges. In the last 60 years, pins that hold the badges broke off, things got bent up, or whatever. And farmers found whichever badge was available with the right pin spacing, w/o worrying about absolute correctness. My 1206 is a prime example, one Farmall and one International badge when I got it in 2006.

I don't know about the 06 series forward. I know that farmall on row crops and international was on the utility models prior to the 06 model. I can't say on the 06 forward but it could be like has been said. My 806 I bought used in 78 was only about 10 years old when I bought it and it has said international since I got it. It looks like NY bills except for the white grille and fenders ,TA and turbo on the hood. Mine has the nomenclature for the TA on the S/n tag but was not in it when I got it and no lever or other pieces missing like it had been just disconnected. I never missed it really.

We also have an 806 wide front row crop with International badges on the side panels. I have always be baffled by it. It is a earlier model with a generator but does not have the early RD pump. I also would be interested to know why.

Like I said above, Farmall disappeared from the hood on the 56 series; it was changed to International, but it remained down under the model designation number on the 66 series till I think 1974. If you can see it, the 1066 in the picture is an early one, which still says Farmall under the 1066 plate up front.

If you have seen a true row crop 806 with "International" on the sides, it's because someone changed the hood panels at some point in the last 60 years, plus or minus. Example, tree branch falls on the tractor, crushes the hood. Owner finds a good deal on a set of sheet metal from the Midwest, but it's off a standard model.

By the time of the 806, the line between row crop and standard tread tractors had blurred. They were nearly exactly the same mechanically; the differences were mostly cosmetic. The main mechanical difference was the location of the front end and the power steering.
