806 steering

I have a 806 diesel that when it gets cold out the steering doesn't work till the oil gets warmed up. I changed the hyd. oil and filter last season (no water or dirt that I seen). also if I shut it off and start it back up I will have just a moment of power steering before I lose it again. is my problem in the mcv or the steering valve? I don't hear any bypass noise so something is sticking open and not building psi. thanks

My guess is the suction tube Oring between the trans and rear end houseing is sucking air. That is very common. The only way to repair is to split and replace that oRing. A common and effective 'fix' is to add 5 gallon extra of 'hytran'. Wont hurt a thing. In fact,All 3 of my 06/56 tractors are "5 over".Your mcv pump may also be getting weak, therefore looseing prime.Do a pressure test to be sure.
