Our ‘64 806 is running pretty good, but blowing a little white smoke. I loosened the injector pump and turned it a little with channel locks. The smoking cleared a little but I ran out of slot (adjustment). How can I get more adjustment?? I believe a little more turn and it will clear up.

If the engine originally came with the RD pump there MIGHT be more range at the drive gear IF it has the three bolt gear hub. The later tractors that came with the Stanadyne/Roosa pump did not have that drive hub/gear arrangement. On ANY pump, DO NOT loosen and turn it with engine running like a distributor, as there's a risk of seizing the hydraulic head AND breaking the drive shaft. Make any timing changes with engine OFF.

As for the RD pump it does not have slotted holes in the pump housing, so it would have been a very slight movement. The slop in the bolt holes is not much . You need to first take the small cover off the right hand side of the bell housing and find your 50 Degree mark then with the side cover with the 2 screws off on the side of the pump see if the shaft aligns with the marks at the ends of the oval hole in the pump housing there. Once those line up you can look for the fine adjustment behind the cover on the front of the timing gear where the hub drive is. I don't remember any on mine and never had a problem if the shaft end aligns with the marks in the housing. There will be a set of double numbers on the flywheel you are looking for the single set of them. On the timing gears the hub may have some adjustment though I don't remember any on mine.

While I am not recomending this...I once worked for a guy who had a 4010 with several'bazzillion' hours. There was enough wear in the cam gear train/pump drive that it could not be advanced enough to make up for that wear. He simply filed the slots wider so as to alow the pump to be turned further. It worked,as I spent many hours on that tractor. As I said, not recomending that 'fix'. Only that it worked.
