815 Hydro ??

Hi all, I've got a late model IH 815 that I think the hydro is getting weak. When you go up hills you gotta keep pushing the stick forward and when you stop on a hill you gotta hold the brakes. Our 1640 will creep slowly down a hill in nuetral but the 815 has to be held a little in reverse to stay put. Guy I bought it from said pump was gone through, for whats that worth. What's the more common thing to go bad first? Pump or motor? Thanks in advance!

Its standard practice to replace both the pump and motor at the same time. When one, usually the pump goes it puts metal in the oil destroying the other. There are pressure checks to be done as there are valves and servos that can go bad. You need to rule out these before you condemn the pump and motor.
