820 electronic ignition

I am in the process of converting my 820 from 6v to 12v and considering following up with conversion to electronic ignition. The Pertronix Electronic Ignition kit offered through YT says it's only for a negative ground. My 820 is a positive ground. Will the polarity of the system convert to negative ground with the installation of the 12v alternator and coil, or is there more rewiring that needs to take place?

If you change to 12v with an alternator, unless you buy something special, it will require a negative ground. So you system ( battery) will have to grounded from the negative terminal. and That also means that your primary wire between the distributor and the coil will have the coil end connected to the (-) terminal. If you have a ammeter, you have to reverse the connections on it.

WOW!!! John, I just wanted you to know that you are vital asset to this site, you and many others. It is amazing how much I have learned just reading the different post here. I did print the 12 v conversion, you worked so hard on, and will put in inside my manual for future reference. Thanks for all you do. Matt :D
