820 engine oil filter

I have a 58 820 black dash , the old John Deere dealers are gone , wondering what other oil filters match the Deere filter , also have 3020 that needs a filter .

Any John Deere dealer can get the parts.....
JDParts is the website, put your part number in and away you go!

I never did like the Deere filters for those because of the paper outer cover. I use Wix or Napa in them.

Well, the Deere part number is AR26350. If a dealer doesn't have two in stock, you shouldn't consider them a dealer. That filter fit nearly every Waterloo tractor from the D up to the last 4020... or 49 years of tractor production.

If you dont want to get it from Deere, take the number to Napa and they'll be able to match it with the aftermarket of your choice.

NAPA Gold 1242 or Wix 51242 are a sub for the JD AR26350 oil filter. They both come with 2 quad ring oil seals. The small ring is for 2cyl's and the large ring is for New Gen's They cost about $10.

JD26350 does not include the quad ring which you have to buy separately. Cost of both is also about $10.

Make sure you "dig out" the old quad ring before you put a new one in place.

Well, don't agree about part numbers. JD parts show AR75603 @$8.31 and NAPA shows FIL 1147 @$13.99. So much for the "save $ at NAPA. As far as the JD filters, we (Dad and I) have used them since the 1940's and I don't recall ever having a problem. I just changed oil and filter in my 820 black dash a few months ago and used a JD filter. Maybe someone is confusing the 820 2-cylinder for the later small utility JD 820 tractor?????

AR75603 is the 3020 TRANSMISSION filter. AR26350 is the engine oil for 3020-4020, and in 2 cylinders back to at least the 30's. I think the earliest D's had some kind of washable thing????

(quoted from post at 13:00:27 03/09/17) AR75603 is the 3020 TRANSMISSION filter. AR26350 is the engine oil for 3020-4020, and in 2 cylinders back to at least the 30's. I think the earliest D's had some kind of washable thing????

BUT, the AR75603 IS also the engine oil filter for the 820/830.
Different than all the rest of the two cylinders. Don't know about the R/80. Never had either one of those. So.... Use the AR75603 for your 820 engine oil filter and if you have a 3020, you've a spare hydro filter....

That filter was first used on the "R" tractor and was used on all the big Waterloo tractors following. Then Deere used this existing filter for the transmission on the Waterloo New Generation tractors. Deere has always used existing parts if possible when a new machine is introduced. Mike

That's interesting... it is also the engine filter in the 5020. Didn't realize it was the engine filter in the 820, etc... especially when the row crop diesels used the AR26350. Huh. Well I learned
something new today.
