820 Hydraulics

Checking the Forum for Hydraulics I'm not finding solutions for my tractor. Tractor engine rebuilt 2005, hydraulics worked on and rebuilt 2006 by local shop, and this is a working tractor, not truly a restoration, but it's in process. Last time I used the tractor it acted odd. The fluid level is correct, no water or trash in the reservoir, pump is piston type and primed properly. Two things it's doing: 1. With lift fully up, lowering the control handle to fully lower the arms the system stays up for a few seconds to a few minutes, then suddenly drops. 2. Regardless of the draft handle location, (up or down), the lift only goes up about 1/2 way. If I push the draft handle fully vertical, (not the default 45 degree position), then the lift arms fully extend in the up position.

I suspect the lift sticking in the up position is due to a sticking valve. Anyone with thoughts on this one? The draft lever and extension issue has me puzzled. I understand that the lift should go fully up when commanded and not interact with the draft lever in this way. What I need is for the lift to go to full extension with the primary control lever, not the draft lever/handle. Reading the forums it sounds like low fluid levels for the proper lift levels, but then again, the levels are correct. The fluid is not very thick/heavy either, so even in the cooler weather, it should work fine. I'm beginning to wonder if there is some blockage making it seem like low fluid, (full reservoir but not making the trip, just enough for the pump to do just some of the job?) Is this correct thinking and is there some issue with the valve control or is it possibly something else? Before I take this system apart once again I'd like some idea of where I'm going. Maybe flush the fluid or is this a waste of time?

Thanks all........

B.B. I was surprised that you got no replies to your post. Have you fixed the problem yet or do you still need help? Sounds like a sticking valve. BTDT. I have some literature that might help if you want it.
