There's a plug by the pump drive gear, remove it to see the gear scribe line and turn engine by hand to align the gear mark with the scribe mark on the pump mounting pilot. You will have to wipe the areas clear of black oil to find them, they aren't really easy to find with aging eyes like mine.
 
you need to line up the pump marks and the pointer on the front pulley turning the engine in the direction it runs, recommended timing is 29 degrees btdc
 
Yes, it can be put on 180 out. The pump marks are when the engine # one is on compression stroke. If # four is on compression it will be 180 out, since one and four are at TDC together, and valve camshaft determines which one is ready to fire.
