Knob should turn off.

Use a channel lock pliers with a cloth around the knob. Right hand thread.

wee bit hard to get it over the ball at the bottom,, the knob will come off, I have had to use Big water pump liars some call them channel locks and even a pipe wrench to get them off some times they break if so then turn off the insert and get a new one , I like to roll the bottom lip back over itself then roll it back once its on the stick and snap it over the boss lip it seals on
