850 Regulator Part 3

Thanks for all the help thus far folks. But we're still not there.

Batt. voltage is 6.8. When running it's 8.6 and goes to 9.2 within 1 minute so I shut it down. So I replaced all wiring into and out of gen. and reg. with 10ga. Both new regulators do the same thing although one bounces the ammeter needle more than the other.
Any more ideas?

Take genny and VRs together to good auto electrical shop and have them evaluated in tandem together.

this an analog meter or a digital meter?

amperage stay high?

this an old battery?

cells check out ok with a specific gravity tester?

not a 12v genny is it?

The batt. is brand new. The vom is a $200 Beckman digital. Amperage stays high.

Don't know about the gen. It was on the tractor when I bought it.
