Was just looking at the photo adds and seen an 852 MF Pull Type combine for sale. That is one big machine! I knew there were big pull types made but this is a new one on me. What HP tractor would it take to pull and run this one? I would love to see one of these in action, Not many big pull types in southwest Ohio if any. Kinda neet to see one, Biggest I have seen was a IH (same as the 615) pull type, But that was 30+ years ago. Bandit

Those Massey pulltypes were the same size as the 750/850 self-propelleds. Guys around here with them would likely use about a 130 pto hp tractor or bigger on them. They weren't the biggest pull-types by any means - the John Deere 7701/7721 were 55 inch machines, and IH had the 1482/1682 which were the same size as the 1480/1680 sp's. Those needed at least 175 pto hp, more was better. With the biggest pull-types weight with a full hopper was a big factor. Too light a tractor and you'd have the tail wagging the dog. Versatile also made a big pull-type, the Transaxial 2000 which was right up there with the biggest. Smaller machines included the JD 6601, White 8650 and IH 914.

First time I have seen someone post a dimension when you say 55 inch machines I will measure my Massey 751 pull type see how it compares to that today. It seemed hardly big enough for the liberty canola. I could hardly go slow enough with the tractor to process. It kept plugging.

Your Massey 751 is a 50" machine, cylinder width, the same as a 750 self-propelled
