856 and 806 TA

i have a 856 with a bad Ta and a 806 parts tractor with a good Ta I was just going swap ta housings around but I noticed a difference hole in the 806 housing compare to the 856 on the back, parts book says they housing are the same just wondering what this hole is for for

What's the part number on the two housings? If there's a modification on one, that isn't on the other, the number after the "R" will reflect that.

That's not a factory hole. I've had hundreds and hundreds of these tractors apart and have never seen that. Can't imagine why someone would cut that hole. Don't know of any aftermarket attachment that would require that hole

Book says, there's no part number on the 856 housing

Reverse shaft oil passage is pretty close to that hole. Curious why the hole was drilled in the housing

Alternate part number is 390965R41
The 806 I looked up has the hole

Actually looking at it again, it doesn’t have that hole, my mistake
