860 Engine Compression

I have my tractor split to change the clutch and have a stupid question. Should I be able to turn the flywheel by hand? I started to remove the clutch bolts and was surprised by how easy it turned. All 4 spark plugs are in.

Sounds normal to me.
Even a diesel with twice the compression can easily be turned when you put a wrench onto the clutch bolts.

Yep pretty much normal. If the fan belt is as tight as it should be you can grab the fan and turn the crank shaft. Also if you figure how big the flywheel is and where the clutch pressure plate bolts sit that is a big torque amplifier by the time you add the handle of the wrench

Great news, thanks guys! After I posted this the missus reminded me back in the old days tractors were started by hand, admittedly smaller 4cyls but still with a crank.
