860 gas tank

A friend put my gas tank in and it is on a slant. I have looked all
over the web for pictures. My maintenance manual doesn't have
one. Does anyone have a picture of a 860 gas tank installed with
the tin off so that I can see it?

I think that it would be pretty hard to get it on wrong. The channels that are welded to the tank sit on the two brackets that bolt onto the head. You probably ought to check to see that the carriage bolt on the front bracket is slid into the slot in the front channel. The way the top and bottom halves of the tank are welded together make it look slanted.

here's a few.. different machiens of course.. some 172 and some 134.. but they all bolt up the same...

Here's some of an 860. One of the channels was rusted where the bolts sit so PO tapped out an metal strip and slid it into the space. Works great.

Thank each of you. This has been very helpful. I will look tomorrow (it is at a different place) but am sure I will be able to fix it now.
