Here is a pic of my 8600 white I been working on

Looks to be in nice shape - maybe shedded most of its life? I see its a hydro which is good - guys I know that had the variable speed drive seemed to have problems, our hydro 7800 never give a bit of trouble in over 20 years. There were a lot of pulltype versions of the 8600 here, called the 8650 - main grief with them was the walkers. I think the crank-to-walker bolts kept loosening off (maybe stretching?). Our 7800 had heavier bolts, never had that problem.

Nice looking 8600,wish I knew how to post pictures.I have a 7600,8600 andan8800.Great combines, everyone around here laughs at them ,but I got my 7600 for 500 dollars,my8800 for 800 dollars and my 8600 for 1500 dollars with a 6 row corn head and abean head. They look good and work great.

Pretty decent old combine with any older equipt in needs a few things it had sat for sevral years in a old barn coons and mice had taken up squatter rights in it,I used on beans this fall found alot of little things that need attention air needs charged, fuel pump needs rebuilt need to replace bearing on the beater I think that will be my biggest challenge.the hopper is a 150 bu motor dont know hp but its a 6.3 perkins, dont know how long cyl bars are it does not like foxtail or many weeds thanks for all the comments.

The spec sheet says the 354 Perkins puts out 112 hp, while the 318 Chrysler V8 puts out 121. Hopper capacity is listed at 150 bu, the cylinder is 45 inches wide x 22 inches diameter.

It was like that when I got it got it from 94 yr old man and this was his baby bought new he could not remember about why the auger was replaced other than he had to drive to central Ks to get it.I am gonna say thats off of a 7800 oliver just by looking at pics they are real close to the same machine, that 5297 Moline appears to be from the same jean pool also.I am sure someone on here knows if they were made at the same factory and just got different paint and decals or not.

The White, Cockshutt, Oliver and MM combines were identical except for colors and decals, they all came out of the former Cockshutt factory in Brantford, Ontario. Occassionally we'd even get a green part from our dealer for our red combine. Since all 8600's and 8800's were red the auger on this one likely came off an Oliver 5555, 7600 or 7800. When we had our red 7800 I always thought it'd be fun to get a green Oliver 7800 to go along with it.

Nice looking 8600 White...If you are from western MO was this sold new out of Archie,MO? You wouldnt by some chance have a bunch of MM tractors?

Years ago there used to be a 8600 White near me that was sold new in the late 70's by Beaty Impl CO at ElDorado Springs,MO...

Always crious about those combines. Never been around one. How are the operator controls? How does it compare to an L2 Gleaner for capacity, operator convenience, easy to repair, etc. I have a Gleaner L2 that I really like.

I think this machine was sold new fom the [Varenburg] oliver dealer in Higginsville.Im south of Odessa no MM tractors here.Never ran a L2 ran some massey combines in the past hope it will be better to work on than them.
