861 clutch replacement

I separated the trans and engine on my 861 powermaster. I found a broken metal washer in the bottom of the bell housing. The washer 2" O.D. with a 1 1/8" I.D. the washer is approx 3/16" thick. The I.D has 2 flat areas that are 180 degrees opposite and the O.D. has a 1/4" wide x 1/4" deep slot. Does anyone know what this part is?

Not certain, but my guess is a starter drive part.

The two flats on it seem like related to the clutch release asm. Maybe a spacer, or the flat the forks press on? Just a guess.

I agree, it is a part from a broken starter drive from who knows when.

If the starter was working before you split the tractor, likely the piece is from a previous starter which failed. Very common to find pieces of starters when splitting a tractor.
