861 Power Steering

Just noticed a fluid leak at the top of my
steering column on the 861...leaking out from under the steering wheel and dripping down on to the shift cover on the tanns.
Is there a seal, or an O ring, or packing of sorts at the top of th colomn just under the steering wheel? Just want to know if anyone had run into this one before I start tearing into this one. Any thoughts gentleman??

Thanks as always!

As I recall, there are seals top and bottom to keep the hydraulic section separate from the lower steering gears. Seals are relatively inexpensive, bearings are not. I replaced seals on 2 of my tractor power steering columns, 1 also needed bearings.

I strongly recommend an illustrated parts breakout or a repair manual before you start- there are alot of small, spring loaded parts that you need to make sure go back correctly. Not a hard job, but can be made more difficult by rushing into the teardown.

2 o rings that are the same size.Friend did it on one of the tractors we had.Took his time and read the service manual and all went well.
Parts weren't very much.
