861 Powermaster

tugman, I have a question. I'm currently restoring an 861 Powermaster gas and the color of the steering
column shroud is grey. I've seen many pictures of powermasters and most all of them have the shroud painted
red. I also have an 841 that was painted grey.

I see that yours is also grey. Was that the original color or did you change it?

That lower part is supposed to be gray while the dash is red. Get enough red so that you can paint the starter and generator. I have an advertising pamphlet printed with color photographs, done just after the XX1s came out. You can also see a lot of factory fresh original tractors from old advertising videos.

I agree with showcrop, I did a Google search of 861D 's and found that they were gray.
I did use cnh enamel with hardener and sprayed it with a hvlp gun , also clear coat all the tin I added hardener to the clear as well.
The two pictures are taken hours apart at different angles so you can see how artificial light really messes with a digital camera!!
Took the parts outside into bright sunlight and bingo the true color came to life :D
The grill is my favorite...

Thanks for the info. The red/gray combination on that tractor makes it sharp!
