Im sorry if this a stupid question but are the aftermarket rims as good as the oem rims? I cant source any oem rims near me. TIA

The 6 loop
Most likely, the OEM 6-loop rims were made for Ford by Kelsey Hayes. Doubt if Ford/NH/CNH has sold any Kelsey Hayes 6-loop tractor rims for 40+ years.

Who knows who makes the currently available 6-loop rims but most likely all are of similar quality.

I replaced my rotted-out rims with aftermarket ones from Miller Tire. I have no complaints with them. Are they made to the same standards as the OEM rims were built to sixty years ago? Probably not. But they hold air, which is good 'nuff. I did have to paint them to match the original color.

Miller claims their rims are made in the USA.

I bought a new one month or so back not for a Ford that had Titen/EWC stamped on it. It was a lot heavier than other rim witch was original.
ECWcis the electric wagon compan, they were used in the 70’s i belive, no longer in businees, ill keep looking for a good used one

If there really ever was such a thing as "aftermarket" rims, and if anyone measured a .01 difference between it and supposed OEM in thickness, it would have been publicized to the point that everyone with any interest would have known about it, and it would be all over the 'net within a month of the 'net getting started.

Titan *IS* in business, and they purchased the wheel operations of Electric Wheel Company.

Don't stop looking for a good used one but don't discount new rims. Sooner or later you'll run out of time or patience, and if you haven't found a used one yet, you'll have to break down and buy a new rim.

New rims will be made by Titan/EWC or Unverferth Mfg. Many ag dealers sell one or both brands. A new rim will be heavier than an OEM as they are used on the front of newer heavier tractors often with loaders on them.

May need to check with sales at a dealer instead of parts as wheels are often sold as wholegoods.

Search "12x28 6 loop tractor rim" on google. Lots of options <$200 and some even include free shipping.

Locally you would get the rim through a tire shop, not the dealer, unless you're masochistic and really aren't all that attached to the cash in your pocket.

I go to my local "Pete's" tire store they do mostly truck business. You may be able to order your rims on a "stock" order which they probably place every-other month with the wheel manufacturer. You can save a lot on shipping compared to a special order.

I purchased new rims for my 4500 ford from my ag tire service/dealer. No complaints. They came within a week and there was no freight charge because they came in with their weekly delivery. Unless you are going to deal with dismounting/mounting and all that is associated with that, the shop that will do the service is the place to start. As I recall, they were quite competitive on price and the 'no freight' made them the best deal by far.
