I have a 861 which I'm going to be selling due to unforeseen circumstances. I spent about a year refurbishing it and have receipts for well over 5k not including the cost of the tractor. My original intentions were a show/parade tractor, but life always has a curve ball. Engine complete overhaul including new crank. lift cover rebuilt, new radiator, new tires and tubes, etc. spent a ton on hardware. As I was doing this for myself I did not shortcut. Took pictures through the process so I have that proof also. has 2 hours on proof meter.

Who knows.

They don't sell like they once did and I expect prices to continue to decline.

Do not expect to get your money back.

Nice looking 861, BTW.

knew going in I wouldn't get my money back but hope to recover some. friend of mine pass last sept. had a 841 we both did pretty much the same thing. his wife started at 7k and sold it for 5750. I thought that was good. it will go for what someone willing to pay. I just don't where to be. I really don't want to give it away.

That is one beautiful tractor. Obviously you put a lot of careful work into it. Unfortunately, I don't think you'll get your money back, let alone your time.

You need to cast a broad net. Ebay. I had a nice 961 and a fellow saw it at a show and just HAD to have it. It was two years before I was ready to sell but he still had to have it and paid top dollar.

A nice looking tractor. I agree with Showcrop about the wide net and will add that you likely will need patience also.

Analyzing it from my perspective as a tractor user your machine lacks fluid in the tires (several here might contend that is a negative, but to work the machine it's a near necessity), power steering, remote hydraulics, and a front bumper. So even tho it's an attractive, fresh machine it lacks some desirable utility items.

From the perspective of a tractor show enthusiast (currently literally a dying breed and so machine supply exceeds demand) it is a completed project. Spending time fussing in the shop is one reason to have a tractor.

So you are seeking a tractor enthusiast/collector who is not concerned about pinching pennies and wants a freshened, solid, clean, but ultimately common, tractor.

I'd suggest you craft your adds carefully (better pictures than these) and place them on all the platforms across a wide geographical range. Since you asked, from the perspective of someone who watches these adds for entertainment (me), I'd suggest you price it at $6000 and take the first $5000 that comes along.

It seems unfair that such a handsome, solid machine is not better appreciated. It's where things are at tho....

good luck
David

Well said, I would add there may be some variability in value by what part of the country you are in but you are about right for my
area.

I sold one in not quite as good shape with a back blade for $6500. It will put all the other Ns to shame an is a very desirable tractor

Very nice job, I was looking for that exact tractor but ended up with a 871 diesel instead. We never get back the money that goes in, but the joy of rebuilding one is priceless
