870 Case Mechanic question

All,

Recently purchased an 870 Case Diesel. After bringing it Home I changed the Air filter and changed oil and filter. I used a 15-40. After letting it warm up for about 6 minutes the blowby just blew smoke. I was spot checking the engine and noticed oil seeping out the head and exhaust manifold. What is wrong with the tractor and or did i just purchase an overhaul. Thanks.--Adam

Check the oil for water contamination, if
that's ok get it warm and work it for a
while and see what happens. It may be tired
and sometimes working them for a couple
hours will fix some of that.

Thanks, I will run it today

X2 and if that doesn't help, remove the blowby pipe from both valve covers and run the motor to see any difference from front or back. Then take the valve cover off to see further. Could be just one cylinder causing trouble. Keep us posted.
