870 tight engine?? trans??

I am looking for some ideas of what might be wrong with my 870 Black Knight. Mowing hay this spring it started making noise and then locked up on me. after tear into it, I found the balancer bearing went out. I put a front mount oil pump in it and checked two main cap bearings and one rod cap bearing, which they all looked good. When I put it back together it started right up but only ran for a few minutes then got tight and shut down. I started it a number of times after that and it would run a little long or a little less but each time would sound like something was getting tight and it would shut down. Even after shutting down it would start right up so that tells me it shouldn't be the engine getting tight but not sure. Can the trans get tight like that? I put it in gear and went back and forth shifting fine before dieing again.

Any bearing debris in the pan? Does it have good oil pressure? I would have checked all the bearings at minimum.

60psi oil pressure.
Looking back, I agree but taking off the caps that I
did and they all looking good I decided not to take
the rest off. I would think that if the bearing are
getting hot and seizing up then it wouldn't start
right up like it does. I may need to drop the pan
again if I don't have any other ideas.

What about the hydraulic pump... Driven by a shaft connected directly to the crankshaft. Could it be grinding itself to bits?

Had similar issue on 970. 6 out of 7 mains looked FINE one small one second from front was bad. Mains get oiled first. I would have checked all main bearings at minimum.

It is a power shift and thought about trying 2nd gear to see if it still gets tight.
There isn't any noises just starts pulling like something is getting tight.

Just seems like if it is a bearing then it wouldn't start right up after it dies, I would think it would need to cool for a bit and then start but either way I agree hindsight says I should have checked all the mains.

My bet is PS valve sticking. Had that happen in 2290 before. Would kill then immediately able to restart only to die in couple of seconds. Had a spool sticking.
