8760 hydraulic pump

My hydraulic pump locked up on my 8760. I removed it and can not get the replacement pump to slide in the housing. I have it bolted up with all 4 bolts that are 2 inch's longer and I can wiggle it all around but it will not go in the splines. I have rotated the splined shaft and I can not get it to start in the splines. Anyone have any ideas?

Must have killed the engine when it locked up???

Pump should slide in easily by hand, I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that when it locked up it must have twisted the female splines where it plugs into the transmission.

Yes it killed the engine. Tractor was at a idle. The old pump pulled off easy and the splines looked good. I can not get it to start in the splines.

I went out to the tractor this morning and rocked it around a few time and it slid in place. I think my arms were too played out yesterday. I bled the differentials checked for leaks and it is time to put the tin back on. I bought 40 gallons of oil[$601] and have about 2 gallons left.
